Retreats in Turkey with Sharon & Gary Carter

The Retreat

After 2 very successful weeks at the Lagoon Retreat in 2023, Sharon & Gary Carter are offering 3 holidays in Turkey in 2024!

Lagoon Retreat is located in an elevated position in a forested conservation area overlooking the Sülüngür Lagoon with spectacular views across the beautiful Dalyan delta and Istuzu beach. The utter peace and privacy of the venue, immersed in nature, creates a wonderful atmosphere conducive to your yoga practice. Forest bathe, inhale the vital prana, tune into birdsong and the hum of cicadas. A private beach on the lagoon can be reached by a 15-minute walk through the forest.

A short bus ride from the village will bring you to the charming riverside town of Dalyan with its shops and restaurants. A 5-minute bus ride in the opposite direction will take you to Istuzu, a long, sandy beach in the conservation area where Loggerhead turtles come to lay their eggs. Visits to nearby ruins of ancient Caunos, mud baths, boat trips and other excursions, including off the beaten track, can be arranged by Ian if you want to explore.

If you haven’t worked with Sharon & Gary before be prepared to have an extremely enjoyable week of yoga, rest and fun. This is a holiday, not a boot camp. Sharon & Gary will teach the first and last classes together then throughout the week there will be 2 hours of Hatha yoga and breathing practices with Sharon each morning and 2 hours of Scaravelli inspired yoga (with a touch of anatomy) with Gary each afternoon. We, and our Turkish hosts will endeavour to ensure you are blissfully happy!

Arrival and departure airport is Dalaman.

Gary Carter, of Natural Bodies, brings together his yoga inspired by Vanda Scaravelli's teachings, with some myofascial movement anatomy which informs the system to allow efficient movement through the body.

Sharon Carter has a background in Iyengar yoga, with lots of Scaravelli and anatomy influences, focusing on encouraging you to listen to your body and move well through life. Many breathing practices will be explored in Sharon's sessions, along with a gentle and inspiring yoga practice.

Getting there

Holidays generally run from Saturday to Saturday, as that is when most charter flights fly from UK airports to Dalaman – a four hour flight from the UK. The airport is about 30 minutes by minibus transfer. Saturday is travel day and therefore classes generally begin on Sunday.
